What airport do I fly into?
YVR (Vancouver) is the closest international airport.
How do I get to Bowen Island?
It takes approximately 60-90 mins to get from the airport to the Bowen Island Ferry in Horseshoe Bay. It runs hourly with a two hour break mid day and takes approximately 20 mins to cross to Bowen Island. Schedules can be found here . Please ensure you plan ahead to ensure you get here on time.
When should I plan to arrive to Bowen Island?
The retreat starts on Thursday, August 10th at 3pm. You are welcome to arrive anytime after 1 pm. On Sunday August 13th guests are asked to check out at 11am.
Is this retreat good for solo travelers?
Yes, most guests are solo travelers though we welcome couples, groups, and families.
Do I need travel insurance?
If you are a BC resident, you need to have your BC care card.If you are travelling from outside of BC, you need a travel insurance that covers medical emergencies, evacuations and trip cancellation.
I have never done a yoga/meditation retreat, is it still okay for me?
No prior experience is needed, everyone is encouraged to go at their own pace. We will guide you step by step in each session so you can learn how to practice yoga and meditation by yourself.
Will the level of yoga be adequate for me?
The yoga classes will be taught to meet all levels. From beginners to advanced yoga practitioner will be able to challenge themselves in each class.
Will there be free time?
Everyday there is time that you can use to do completely relax or plan some personal activities such as hiking, kayaking, swimming and exploring the island. You are responsible for your own lunches, we will provide a map of different local grocers, hiking trails and shops.
Is there wifi?
Yes, wifi is available everywhere on the property. However, we do invite you to disconnect. If you need to connect, please do so discreetly.
I don’t have personal transportation. What are my options?
From YVR you can take either a taxi or public transportation (YVR Skytrain to City Centre station then transfer to Translink bus express 257 West bound) to Horseshoe Bay. Keep in mind the journey is at least an hour depending on the time of day. We can provide transportation to and from Snug Cove Ferry Terminal Nectar on arrival. There is also an island bus that is available most times of the day. There is also an island Taxi 604-250-TAXI. We will help you with what works best for you.
I have allergies. What do I need to know?
There are no pets or smoking permitted anywhere on Nectar B&B. Breakfasts and dinners are organic and vegan and are prepared locally. If you have any other food allergies, please notify us BEFORE August 1st 2017.
Is there anything I need to bring?
Bedding and towels are supplied. We recommend you bring a hair dryer (if needed), rain gear, a water bottle, your own yoga mat if you prefer (we have many mats available), your bathing suit, an extra towel, snacks and water shoes.
Can I extend a retreat stay?
Yes, you can extend your personal stay with daily yoga and breakfast available. Please inquire as soon as possible as Nectar books up quickly.
How far in advance should I book a retreat?
We recommend that you book as soon as possible to confirm your space as the retreat is limited to 10-12 guests. Full payment is required upon booking. It is 100% refundable (less $50 admin fee) until July 1st. It is 50% refundable until July 15th. After July 15th no refunds will be given.
