I've been Influenced by numerous teachings on understanding anatomical movement and my teaching style draws from multiple disciplines. My instruction is designed to build an intimate relationship with the body that illuminates a transition into the mystical aspects of yoga. Understanding how to we build a bridge from our breath into our body. How alignment and the willingness to explore our bodiy and mind can help cultivate acceptance. I offer support and suggestions to change a pattern a student may not see.
For over 18 years, I've been aspiring to grow my awareness of Self through my dedicated practice - always seeking more emotional/spiritual/physical fine tuning. The majority of my learning is rooted within the traditional aspects of Ashtanga yoga with a heavy influence of support from props. As a student, I've had the privilege of working closely with Chuck Miller (200+ hours) and Ron Reid (500+ hours) for more than half of my "yoga life" and continue deepen my learning and knowledge of the practice so that I can then interpret it back into my teaching. In 2004, I completed my prenatal teacher training with Janice Clarfield and continued to expand my studies and knowledge though my own experience of pregnancy in 2010. As an instructor, I have exceed over 8000 teaching hours since 2003. I've spent an extended amount of time in India at Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram and Purple Vally Yoga. I have made yearly visits to New York and California learning from pioneer western yoga teachers like Annie Carpenter, Maty Ezraty, Seane Corne and mediation centres such as Spirit Rock. I also find working closely with my private clientele enriches my education and continues to affirm that teaching from the bones of the body provides authentic balance, safety and sustainability in everyones practice. Yoga's clarity through simplicity, the inner and outer strength it brings and the mindfulness it builds continues to inspire me.
In the fall of 2013 I was asked to be a part of the teaching faculty for the 200 hour (RYT) Living Yoga Program at 889 Yoga in Toronto. I am thrilled to be continuing to lead the 18 hour Anatomy component in the fall of 2016 and am currently developing my own online practice program.
